Stand Firm, Shine Bright | Professor Dr. Dawood Abdulmalek Yahya Al-Hidabi | TEDxIIUM

Character is not something we build by chasing trends or perfecting appearances; it is something we recover by going back to our roots. Before the noise, before the performance, before the pressure to become someone else, our character was shaped by values, upbringing, faith, culture, and lived experiences. In a world obsessed with speed and visibility, character grows quietly - through integrity, consistency, and choices made when no one is watching. Going back to the roots is not regression; it is realignment. It is remembering who we were before approval defined us, and choosing depth over display, substance over status, and authenticity over image. Prof. Dr. Dawood Abdulmalek Yahya Al-Hidabi is a distinguished educator and expert in curriculum development, educational leadership, and quality assurance with over 40 years of experience across the Middle East and Southeast Asia. He is the Founding President of the University of Science and Technology (Yemen) and a Professor at IIUM, where he has held several key leadership roles.
He has collaborated with global organisations including UNESCO, UNICEF, the World Bank, OIC, and ISESCO, contributing to educational reforms and accreditation systems in multiple countries. Recognized among the Top 100 Influential Personalities in the Arab World and the Top 100 Sustainability Champions in MENA, Prof. Dawood is widely respected for his commitment to integrating Islamic values with modern educational approaches, and for his lifelong dedication to developing future leaders.
