Als Russland im Februar 2022 die Ukraine überfiel, war das Nachbarland Polen das nächste und erste Ziel für die meisten Geflüchteten. Dort wurden sie herzlich und dankbar aufgenommen und durften von Beginn an arbeiten. Für die boomende polnische Wirtschaft ein Geschenk. Doch nach vier Jahren hat sich die Stimmung vielerorts gedreht. Historische Konflikte zwischen den Ländern sind wieder offen aufgebrochen. Und über soziale Netzwerke verbreitet sich der Vorwurf, die Ukrainer:innen lebten vor allem von Sozialhilfe, was mit der Realität wenig zu tun hat. Trotzdem tritt der Hass vieler Pol:innen im Alltag immer wieder offen zu Tage. „Es gibt schöne Geschichten, aber auch Vorfälle, die schlichtweg unfassbar sind.
