Il presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella ha salutato i contingenti militari italiani impegnati nelle missioni internazionali collegandosi dalla sede del Comando Operativo di Vertice Interforze (COVI). Un incontro che il Capo dello Stato ha definito “significativo e anche piacevole dal punto di vista umano”, sottolineando il valore del contatto diretto con donne e uomini impegnati in contesti delicati in diverse parti del mondo. Mattarella ha evidenziato come i collegamenti con i contingenti rappresentino in modo concreto l’evoluzione degli impegni delle Forze armate italiane, chiamate oggi a operare in scenari sempre più complessi e interconnessi. “I confini si sono ampliati e gli obiettivi si sono allargati”, ha affermato, richiamando la crescente necessità di integrazione e collaborazione a livello internazionale. Il presidente ha sottolineato come l’impegno non sia più solo nazionale, ma inserito pienamente nella dimensione globale delle alleanze, a partire dall’Unione Europea. Accanto ai tradizionali ambiti di intervento – terra, mare e cielo – si aggiungono oggi nuove dimensioni operative, come il fondo marino, lo spazio e il dominio cibernetico. Un’evoluzione che richiede, ha concluso Mattarella, un continuo adeguamento delle Forze armate, chiamate a rispondere con efficienza ed efficacia alle nuove sfide della sicurezza internazionale.
