Prostitution in Spanien ist ein Milliardengeschäft. Die meisten Frauen sind Opfer von Menschenhändlern. Touristen befeuern die Situation: In den Sommermonaten steigt auf der Urlaubsinsel Mallorca die Zahl der Sexarbeiterinnen sprunghaft.Im Juli 2025 haben Ermittler in Spanien über 150 Frauen aus der Zwangsprostitution befreit — in einer der größten Polizeiaktionen im Land seit Jahren. Besonders auf der Touristeninsel Mallorca boomt die Sexindustrie im Sommer, oft versteckt hinter Massagesalons und Privatwohnungen. Laut Hilfsorganisationen sind die meisten Frauen Migrantinnen ohne Papiere, darunter viele Opfer von Menschenhandel. "Wir haben hier ein ziemlich verkommenes Tourismus-Modell aufgebaut. Es basiert auf Alkohol, Drogen, Spaß haben — und auf einer absoluten Enthemmung. Und das Prostitutionssystem fügt sich da hervorragend ein," sagt Jaume Perello von der Hilfsinitiative Casal Petit. Die Behörden stehen unter Druck, effektiver gegen kriminelle Netzwerke vorzugehen, doch die Nachfrage in Touristenregionen bleibt hoch. NGOs fordern mehr Prävention statt bloßer Strafmaßnahmen.
