Conseguimos una de las películas más raras de Shaw Brothers y la subtitulamos por completo. Hablamos de Die Xian, también conocida como Haunted Tales, un "Frankenstein" cinematográfico que unió dos proyectos descartados de directores con visiones opuestas: por un lado, el estilo gótico y melodramático de Chor Yuen; por el otro, la crudeza visceral y exploitation de Mou Tun-fei. El resultado es una experiencia Grindhouse fascinante del terror de Hong Kong de los 80.
En el primer segmento seguimos a unos recién casados que se mudan a una aislada casa. La paz se desmorona cuando la esposa nota detalles inquietantes: dos tumbas infantiles en el terreno, vecinos extrañamente insistentes y la constante visión de un hombre desfigurado que le exige "que le devuelva su ojo".
En la segunda parte, un frustrado conserje descubre a unos niños jugando a la Ouija china. Al probar suerte, el espíritu le revela los números ganadores de la lotería, pero con una advertencia: si cae en los vicios, su suerte se revertirá brutalmente. Obviamente, el dinero desata sus peores impulsos.
