Em entrevista ao jornalista Luis Nassif, a cliente do plano de saúde Amil, Rita Ephrem, relata a tentativa da empresa de cortar os planos de pacientes raros devido aos altos custos dos tratamentos. Para muitos desses pacientes, o corte do plano significa tirar seu direito de viver. "Não vamos ser assassinados porque somos uma cifra negativa aos olhos deles", diz Ritinha.Ela tem síndrome genética rara que produz mutações que causam inflamações em órgãos vitais; imunodeficiência grave que não deixa seu corpo produzir nenhum anticorpo e isso a expõe a infecções; e hipercoagulação sanguínea que provoca trombose de repetição. Por conta disso, ela teve diversos AVCs e tromboses em órgãos diferentes.
