Keluarga besar UIM pun lantas mengungkapkan belasungkawa atas kepergian korban bernama Syukron Mahbubu (42).
Atas kepergiannya, Rektor UIM, Ahmad sontak kaget mendengar kabar kematian rekan kerjanya tersebut.
Setelahnya Ahmad mengungkap percakapan terakhir dengan korban sebelum dinyatakan meninggal pada Jumat (27/5/2025).
Menurut Ahmad pada Rabu (4/6/2025), Syukron sempat berpamitan sebelumnya untuk berangkat haji.
Kata Syukuron, ia memiliki keluarga dan kenalan di Makkah.
Namun mendengar cerita tersebut, Ahmad mengaku hanya bisa memberikan saran agar Syukron berhati-hati jika ingin berangkat haji.
Ahmad beralasan akan meningkatnya keketatan pengawasan terhadap jemaah haji yang akan masuk ke Makkah.
Mengakiri perbincangan, Ahmad mengaku hanya bisa mendoakan agar rekan kerjanya dari kampus itu selamat sampai tujuan.
Setelah itu Rektor UIM tersebut mengaku tak ada komunikasi lanjutan antara ia dan Syukron.
Namun sekilas ia sempat mendengar kabar bahwa rekan kerjanya itu telah tiba di Makkah dan sedang melaksanakan Umrah pertama.
