Se negli ultimi decenni la globalizzazione ci ha abituati a pensare che efficienza e interdipendenza fossero sinonimi di progresso, il ritorno della competizione geopolitica che stiamo vivendo sta invece mettendo drammaticamente in discussione questa certezza.
Dalla tecnologia all'energia, dalle catene di approvvigionamento fino al controllo delle frontiere, gli Stati stanno riscoprendo una regola antica: dipendere da qualcuno significa concedergli, poco o tanto, una forma di potere.

E’ esattamente quello che sta accadendo oggi in Europa, dove diversi governi stanno rivalutando la propria dipendenza dalle grandi aziende tecnologiche americane, mentre contemporaneamente l'Unione Europea continua ad affidarsi a Paesi terzi per controllare una parte dei flussi migratori diretti verso i propri confini.

Due fenomeni apparentemente lontani, che potrebbero però raccontare la stessa trasformazione: e cioè il ritorno della sovranità e del controllo delle infrastrutture strategiche al centro della geopolitica.
