Why Lockheed Wants To Build a Cheaper Patriot Missile With Europe's Help | FP Explains
Lockheed Martin has unveiled a lower-cost Patriot interceptor designed to tackle growing demand for affordable air defence missiles. Called the PAC-3 Adapted Capability Effector (ACE), the new interceptor is expected to cost US$1.5–2 million, less than half the price of the US$4 million PAC-3 MSE. ACE is designed to counter aircraft, cruise missiles, drones and short-range ballistic threats while using existing Patriot infrastructure. Lockheed is also exploring European production partnerships as defence spending rises across the continent. With missile stockpiles under pressure from conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia, the company hopes ACE will strengthen air defence capacity at a lower cost.00:00 Intro
