Das Bundeskabinett hat sich nach einem heftigen Disput zwischen SPD und Union doch auf ein neue Pflegegesetz geeinigt. Bundesgesundheitsminister Carsten Linnemann (CDU) sagte nach dem Beschluss, für ihn sei das Thema häusliche Pflege zentral gewesen. Daher habe er sich gegen eine zunächst geplante Kürzung der Rentenpunkte für pflegende Angehörige entschieden. Mit dem Gesetz soll die erwartete Finanzlücke von rund acht Milliarden Euro im kommenden Jahr geschlossen werden. Für dieses Jahr wird ein Defizit von 4,4 Milliarden Euro erwartet.Ab Oktober soll eine Kommission weitere strukturelle Veränderungen der Pflegeversicherung bis Ende Januar ausarbeiten. In den Tagesthemen sprach Jessy Wellmer mit dem Gesundheitsökonomen Heinz Rothgang von der Universität Bremen darüber, wie eine solche Strukturreform aussehen könnte.
