WADEPHUL IN ISRAEL: Klare Worte zur Zwei-Staaten-Lösung und humanitären Lage in GazaAußenminister Johann Wadephul hat bei seinem Besuch in Israel klare Worte gefunden. In einem Statement vor seinem Abflug betonte er, dass die Zwei-Staaten-Lösung der einzige Weg sei, dass beide Völker in Frieden, Würde und Sicherheit leben können. Die Aussage sorgte zunächst für Verwirrung in Israel – Wadephul konnte allerdings klarstellen, dass Deutschland nicht vorhabe, Palästina als Staat bei der UN-Generalversammlung im September anzuerkennen. Aber: „Die ganz zentrale Botschaft von Wadephul ist, dass die humanitäre Situation, so wie sie sich jetzt im Gazastreifen darstellt, von der deutschen Bundesregierung nicht länger hingenommen wird“, berichtet WELT-Reporter Max Hermes aus Tel Aviv. Was Sanktionen gegen Israel angeht, wolle sich Deutschland aber „nicht aus dem Fenster lehnen“.
