At least 14 newborn babies have died after a fire broke out inside the maternity ward of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, one of Pakistan’s largest state hospitals. Hospital officials said 15 babies were in the intensive care unit when the blaze erupted, with one newborn rescued by a doctor. Women who had just given birth were forced to flee down stairs, through windows and using ladders as smoke and flames engulfed the ward.---
