城南大学で量子物理学を研究する高山我夢は、実験中に光の巨人に遭遇する。時を同じくして街に謎の物体が飛来、中から怪獣コッヴが出現した。コッヴの進撃により被害が拡大していく街を目前に、なす術のない状況に憤る我夢。そして再び光の巨人と遭遇した彼は、大地の「光」を手に入れ、光の巨人へと姿を変えた！
