Trump mengaku pada Jumat (27/6), tengah bekerja keras menjembatani perdamaian antara Israel dan Hamas.
Pihaknya mengaku sangat prihatin dengan kondisi warga sipil di Gaza.
Atas hal itu, ia mengupayakan perdamaian dan harus segera terwujud.
"Saya baru saja berbicara dengan sejumlah orang yang terlibat dalam pembicaraan gencatan senjata. Kami kira pekan depan kita bisa mencapai kesepakatan," ujar Trump kepada wartawan.
“Situasi di Gaza sangat mengerikan. Orang-orang terbunuh setiap hari. Kita harus segera menghentikannya,” ujar Trump.
Namun berselang sehari pernyataan Trump, Israel justru semakin meluncurkan serangan mematikan di Jalur Gaza, Sabtu (28/6).
Akibat serangan tersebut, sekira 60 orang meninggal dunia.
Dari laporan sumber medis terdekat, sekira 20 orang tewas di lingkungan al-Tuffah, Kota Gaza.
Korban tewas termasuk, sembilan anak-anak.
Lantas, serangan Israel ini juga mengakibatkan kehancuran besar.
Selain itu, memicu gelombang kemarahan dunia internasional.
Dengan adanya kondisi ini, sejumlah pihak menilai pernyataan Trump tidak diiringi tekanan nyata terhadap sekutunya, Israel untuk menghentikan serangan.
