🔴 A leisurely stroll through Japan. Shimbashi is a very interesting area in Tokyo where ""traditional salaryman's town"" and ""cutting-edge business district"" coexist. Shimbashi is also known as the birthplace of Japanese railways. In 1872, Japan's first railway began running from the current Old Shimbashi Station towards Yokohama. The restored station building offers a glimpse into the history of railways at that time, making it a must-see for railway enthusiasts.
A short walk further will take you to Ginza, lined with luxury brand shops, and the lush Hamarikyu Gardens. Shimbashi is a city with many faces: bustling with business people during the day, lively izakayas (Japanese pubs) in the evening, and perfect for historical walks and garden strolls on weekends.
Sometimes called a ""salaryman's paradise,"" Shimbashi, when you actually walk around, reveals itself to be a particularly unique area of Tokyo, packed with history, gourmet food, night views, and railway culture. Even first-time visitors will find Shimbashi approachable and its warm, human atmosphere is a major part of its charm.
