ISTANBUL: Demonstrationen zum 1. Mai eskalieren! Festnahmen und Tränengas bei am Taksim Platz!In Istanbul hat die türkische Polizei mindestens 57 Menschen festgenommen. Sie hatten anlässlich des 1. Mai demonstriert und wollten von der europäischen Seite der Bosporus-Metropole zum symbolträchtigen Taksim-Platz ziehen. Dort hatten in der Vergangenheit bereits mehrfach regierungskritische Proteste stattgefunden. Die Polizei setzte Wasserwerfer und Tränengas ein. Zu den Demonstrationen hatten verschiedene Gewerkschaften und Verbände aufgerufen. Schon im Vorfeld des 1. Mai hatten die Behörden mehrere Dutzend Menschen festgenommen, darunter Journalisten und Oppositionelle.
