Ia dilaporkan meninggal pada Sabtu (6/9/2025) dini hari, pada pukul 00.06 WIB.
Berita duka ini dikonfirmasi langsung oleh Ketua DPP PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), Andreas Hugo Pareira pada Sabtu pagi, pada pukul 06.00 WIB.
Andreas menyebut informasi ini diterima melalui pesan grup Whatsapp internal partai yang dikirim oleh anak-anak almarhum.
Jenazah Arif nantinya akan disemayamkan di Rawamangun Muka Golf, Nomor 3, Rawamangun, Jakarta Timur.
Perlu diketahui, Arif Budimanta sendiri merupakan kelahiran Medan, 15 Maret 1968.
Ia dikenal sebagai sosok ekonom sekaligus politisi Partai PDIP.
Arif pernah menjabat sebagai anggota DPR RI periode 2009-2014 Fraksi PDIP.
Ia juga pernah menjadi Ketua DPP PDIP periode 2005-2010.
Selain itu Arif pernah menjabat sebagai Wakil Ketua Fraksi PDIP di MPR RI tahun 2009-2013.
Ia juga tercatat aktif sebagai Direktur Eksekutif the Megawati Institute.
Terakhir, Arif juga pernah berkecimpung sebagai Dewan Penasihat PP Ikatan Anggar Seluruh Indonesia, dan Dewan Pakar Ikatan Cendekiawan Muslim Indonesia (ICMI).
