Cryptopsy это знаменитая канадская дэт метал группа основанная в 1992 году, в Монреале. Можно было бы сказать, что они существуют с 1988 года, но тогда они были известны как Necrosis и вроде бы как играли трэш/дэт. Лидером и единственным постоянным участником Cryptopsy является барабанщик Flo Mounier. Помимо ударки, он так же занимает позицию бэк-вокалиста (очень редкий фоновый скриминг), при чем на концертах тоже, что несколько необычно. Не вникая излишне в детали, в изначальный состав Cryptopsy вошел весь состав Necrosis, кроме их ударника – он был заменён на Flo Mounier. Однако, гитарист и басист Necrosis практически сразу же свалили, в итоге от Necrosis до реального состава Cryptopsy дошел только вокалист. Оригинального вокалиста звали Dan Greening, многократно лучше известен под своим сценическим псевдонимом Lord Worm или же просто Worm. Специфический персонаж и своё прозвище более чем оправдал: Worm испытывал интерес к поеданию червяков и всяких там насекомых, включая поедание червяков прямо на сцене во время выступления группы. А так, Cryptopsy можно было бы назвать культовой группой, но в то же самое время они как-то несколько недооценены: бешенная популярность одного из ранних альбомов незаслуженно затмевает всё остальное творчество, в итоге группа сама же стала заложником успеха одной конкретной пластинки.
