Peristiwa itu terjadi saat Trump berkampanye di Pennsylvania, Sabtu (13/7/2024).
Juru bicara Departemen Luar Negeri AS Matthew Miller menegaskan bahwa sikap pemerintah tidak berubah.
Washington mengecam semua kekerasan politik di negara mana pun, termasuk AS sendiri.
"Kami mengutuk serangan ini dan semua kekerasan politik dengan tegas dan tegas," kata Miller, dikutip dari Anadolu Agency, Selasa (16/7/2024).
Miller mengutip pernyataan Joe Biden yang menegaskan bahwa tidak ada ruang untuk kekerasan dalam negara demokrasi.
Adapun kondisi Trump saat ini sudah membaik, meski telinganya masih dibalut perban.
Ia bahkan langsung mengikuti Konvensi Nasional Partai Republik untuk menentukan wakil yang mendampinginya.
Sementara pelaku penembakan terhadap Trump, Matthew Crooks (20) ditembak mati oleh petugas di TKP.
