Qatar intercepts 4 Iranian missiles, 1 falls in Ras Laffan, causing fire: Defence Ministry
Iran has carried out its threatened retaliation, with five ballistic missiles fired at Qatar. The country's Defence Ministry confirmed its forces intercepted four missiles, but one struck the Ras Laffan Industrial City—home to the world's largest LNG production facility—causing a fire. Civil defence teams are working to contain the blaze. Qatar Energy later confirmed extensive damage at the complex, with all workers safe and no injuries reported. Qatar's foreign ministry condemned the "brutal Iranian targeting" as an escalatory act pushing the region "towards the abyss." In Saudi Arabia, four ballistic missiles were intercepted over Riyadh, with debris falling across the city but no reported casualties. The attacks came as Gulf foreign ministers gathered in Riyadh for emergency talks on security coordination. Iran had earlier issued evacuation warnings for facilities including the UAE's Al Hosn gas field, Saudi Arabia's Jubail petrochemical complex and Samref refinery, and Qatar's Mesaieed complex.Al Jazeera's Victoria Gatenby reports from Doha.
