Kapolri memastikan penyelidikan kasus ini tak akan ditutup-tutupi dan akan menindak tegas pelanggaran yang ada baik pidana atau etik.
Hal ini disampaikan Sigit saat dikonfirmasi pada Selasa (2/7/2024).
Lebih lanjut dikatkan oleh Sigit bahwa dalam pengusutan kasus tewasnya Afif, Polri menurunkan tim dari Mabes Polri seperti Propam, Itwasum, Bareskrim hingga pihak eskternal seperti Kompolnas.
Sigit berujar bahwa Kapolda Sumbar Irjen Pol Suharyono sudah mengumumkan tahapan dan temuan dalam pengusutan kasus.
Diberitakan sebelumnya, Afif Maulana (13) ditemukan tewas di bawah jembatan Kuranji, Kota padang pada Minggu (9/6/2024).
Dari hasil investigasi LBH Padang, Afif diduga dianiaya sebelum tewas dengan bukti lebam di tubuh korban.
Dugaan Afif disiksa oleh polisi pun menguat, terlebih ada laporan dari saksi di lokasi yang menyebut Afif sempat dikerubungi petugas.
Kemudian pada rilis pada Minggu (30/6/2024), Kapolda Sumbar mengumumkan bahwa Afif tewas karena melompat dari jembatan.
Penyebab kematiannya karena patah tulang iga yang kemudian merobek paru-paru.
Kapolda juga membantah Afif sempat dikerubungi polisi, hal ini lantaran petugas belum sempat mengamankan bocah tersebut.
Sebelum jatuh, Afif disebut terlibat dalam kelompok yang hendak melakukan aksi tawuran.
Namun orangtua Afif meyakini sang anak tak ikut dalam aksi tersebut.
