Seit Mai ist Friedrich Merz (CDU) Kanzler. Wie hat sich die neue Bundesregierung bisher geschlagen? Bei der Einordnung hilft uns ein prägender Kopf der Politikwissenschaft in Sachsen. Einer der gerne kontrovers diskutiert und auch um steile Thesen nicht verlegen ist: Werner Patzelt. Er sagt, Merz sei nicht aus einer Position der Stärke in die neue Regierung gekommen und habe zahlreiche große Probleme zu lösen. Davon, ob das gelinge, werde die künftige Stärke der AfD abhängen. Und ob sie beispielsweise im Landtag von Sachsen-Anhalt 2026 die absolute Mehrheit holt und regieren kann. Patzelt sagt, die Union habe sich mit Blick auf die AfD in eine ausweglose Lage manövriert. Deswegen sind seiner Meinung nach absolute Mehrheiten für die AfD durchaus möglich. Insgesamt sei die politische Lage düster und übel – und das sei absehbar gewesen. Der Union werde es nur helfen, die zentralen Probleme zu lösen.
