Namun ternyata Hasyim bukan ketua KPU pertama yang jabatannya berakhir di tengah jalan.
Sebelum Hasyim, setidaknya terdapat 4 ketua KPU lainnya yang bernasib sama hingga harus dipecat dan diganti.
Dilansir dari Tribunnews.com, berikut ini daftar ketua KPU yang masa jabatannya harus berakhir di tengah jalan.
Pertama, Nazaruddin Sjamsuddin, ketua KPU dari tahun 2001-2005.
Ketua KPU RI yang pertama di era reformasi ini digantikan oleh wakilnya akibat terjerat kasus korupsi.
Pada Rabu 14 Desember 2005, Nazaruddin dijatuhi hukuman tujuh tahun penjara dan denda Rp 300 juta oleh Pengadilan Tindak Pidana Korupsi.
Kedua, Abdul Hafiz Anshari yang menjabat sebagai ketua KPU pada periode 2007-2012.
Masa jabatan Abdul Hafiz harus berakhir di tengah jalan setelah menjadi tersangka pemalsuan surat sertifikasi rekapitulasi penghitungan suara di Pilkada Halmahera Barat tahun 2009.
Ketiga, Husni Kamil Manik, ketua KPU periode 2012-2016.
Masa jabatan Husni Kamil harus berakhir karena beliau meninggal dunia pada 7 Juli 2016.
Keempat, Afief Budiman, ketua KPU periode 2017-2021.
Ia dicopot dari jabatannya setelah terbukti melanggar kode etik dan pedoman perilaku penyelenggara pemilu.
Kemudian yang terbaru, Hasyim Asy'ari, ketua KPU dari periode 2022-2024.
Ia dipecat pada Rabu 3 Juli 2024, karena kasus asusila terhadap seorang perempuan yang merupakan Panitia Pemilihan Luar Negeri (PPLN) Belanda.
