TRIP REPORT | Sunrise, Turbulence and Fast Flight to JFK | Alaska 737-900ER | SFO to JFK
Alaska Airlines Trip Report flying from San Francisco to New York onboard one of the Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-900ER on a weather-changing morning all over the United States.We took off with the first lights of the day from San Francisco directly towards the Bay. We left the city on our left during the initial climb and headed towards eastern California and Nevada. The perfect weather in these 2 states allowed us to enjoy some really amazing views: deserts, mountains, canyons, cities... a pure joy for the eyes :)
It was close to Salt Lake City when the clouds appeared, and we joined the jetstream, where the turbulence appeared. From there it was a sequence of moderate turbulence, then smooth air, then turbulence again, then smooth... and so on.
Thanks to this strong jetstream (up to 160kt), the flight time was just above 4h and 45min. After a cloudy and turbulent approach, we landed at New York JFK airport around 20 minutes ahead of schedule.
About the onboard service, Alaska Airlines now offers a pre-order service in economy class. While there are not many options, I have to say that I was really surprised by the good presentation and taste of the food I preordered. I think Alaska Airlines has the best preordered food service in economy class in the USA.
