Woman Calls Police Then Confronts Them With A Gun
* (Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only)Casper, Wyoming — On April 28, 2025, at 12:01 a.m., a woman, later identified as 37-year-old Jody Cobia, called police to her own home, on a report of an active burglary by an armed suspect wearing all black. During the 911 call, Cobia stated she and the intruder were in the back room. Multiple officers with the Casper Police Department responded in the 1600 block of South McKinley Street, Casper, Wyoming. Cobia answered the door dressed in all black with a gun at her side, which she pointed at the responding officers. When Cobia raised the gun, officers expressed surprise and stepped back while the two officers fired five rounds over two seconds. Cobia had a patch on her shirt that said, 'POLICE.' Also during this incident, a barking dog emerged from the home and leapt at an officer. "Shots fired" was radioed to dispatch.
Due to the report the caller provided dispatch that there was an armed burglar inside the home, following the incident, a call to hold before entry was made by the supervising officer. At 12:10 a.m., Emergency Medical Services were requested to standby while officers secured the scene. Officers began clearing the residence, looking for any additional individuals or animals. After confirming there were no more individuals or animals, the supervising officer calls the scene secure and advises dispatch EMS is cleared to enter the scene. After the home is cleared, officers immediately began life saving measures on Cobia while EMS entered the residence. Cobia was transported to Wyoming Medical Center for medical treatment and subsequently pronounced deceased. Cobia is a mother of three, but did not appear to have custody of her children, according to court records. The officers involved in this incident were unharmed. The dog seen in the body camera footage was also unharmed and has been rehomed.
