El lanzamiento de la misión espacial tripulada Shenzhou-23 está programado para el domingo 24 de mayo a las 23:08 horas, tiempo de Beijing. La tripulación está integrada por tres taikonautas: Zhu Yangzhu, Zhang Zhiyuan y Li Jiaying. La mañana del sábado, los astronautas chinos se presentaron ante los medios de comunicación en el Centro de Lanzamiento de Satélites de Jiuquan, en la provincia de Gansu. El comandante Zhu Yangzhu reconoció que se trata de una misión de gran calado, en la que habrá nuevos desafíos, entre ellos la estancia de un año, que supone un reto similar a una larga marcha; sin embargo, también señaló que están perfectamente preparados en todos los aspectos. Por su parte, Li Jiaying aseguró que ir al espacio era algo con lo que antes no se atrevía ni a soñar y les dice a los jóvenes de hoy que los sueños se pueden hacer realidad. Zhang Zhiyuan, el piloto, habló en la misma tesitura.
