Con la autoridad de quien fue compañero de Linares y protagonista del béisbol cubano de los 90 y 2000, Lazo aclara que esa historia, repetida durante años, es puro invento.Alex Otaola aprovecha el desmentido para recordar cómo el castrismo ha tejido leyendas alrededor de sus figuras deportivas, siempre buscando mantener la narrativa oficial intacta y tapar las verdaderas presiones y limitaciones que vivieron los atletas. El influencer cubanoamericano señala que este tipo de relatos forman parte de la manipulación histórica del régimen, que vendía fidelidad y romanticismo donde había control y represión.
