In this tutorial, we're going to be setting up the Grid Placement 5.0.3 plugin in Godot 4. To get started quickly, we'll be using the role-playing demo from the official Godot demos as our foundation since it already has a tile map set up.We’ll cover:
- Installing the plugin add-ons and default template folders
- Loading essential input actions into the project
- Setting up the systems logic (GBInjectorSystem) and placement rules
- Wiring `GBLevelContext` to your TileMap and configuring the player `GBOwnerNode`
- Scaling your grid positioner cursor for custom tile sizes (like 64x64 or pixel art)
- Creating your first Placeable resource (with tags, icons, and collision shapes)
- Hooking up the CanvasLayer HUD (Placeable Selection, Action Log, and Hotbar)
- Adding Target Highlighters and ManipulatableNodes for moving, flipping, and rotating placed objects
