Witold Pilecki hizo algo que parece completamente absurdo: se dejó capturar voluntariamente para entrar en Auschwitz. Su misión era descubrir qué estaba ocurriendo dentro, organizar una red clandestina entre los prisioneros y conseguir que aquella información llegara al exterior.En septiembre de 1940 fue detenido durante una redada alemana en Varsovia y enviado al campo bajo una identidad falsa. Allí recibió el número de prisionero 4859 y descubrió que la realidad era todavía peor de lo que esperaba.
Pilecki consiguió crear una organización clandestina dentro de Auschwitz, enviar información a la resistencia y sobrevivir mientras el campo se transformaba en uno de los principales centros de exterminio nazis. Después de 947 días encerrado, llegó el momento de intentar lo que parecía imposible: escapar.
Pero lo más bestia de su historia es que Auschwitz no sería el final de sus problemas.
Esta es la increíble historia de Witold Pilecki, uno de los personajes más insólitos de la resistencia polaca durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
