LIVE: Typhoon Kalmaegi Hits Philippines, At Least 26 People Dead | Vantage on Firstpost | N18G
Typhoon Kalmaegi has swept across the central Philippines, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and widespread flooding. The storm made landfall late on Monday with winds of 150 kilometres an hour and gusts over 200. At least 26 people have been killed and hundreds of thousands displaced as rivers overflowed and towns were submerged. The Coast Guard is leading rescue operations, while flights and ferry services remain suspended. A military helicopter delivering relief supplies has crashed with five personnel on board. Kalmaegi has now weakened and is moving west over the South China Sea, likely towards Vietnam.---
