G20 finance ministers and central bank governors concluded their meeting in Durban with a closing press conference, addressing global trade tensions amid new U.S. tariff policies.
Earlier in the summit, G20 finance chiefs expressed optimism about reaching a common position on trade and other global challenges. At their previous meeting in February, the G20 had failed to reach a joint stance when finance ministers and central bank governors met.
In his opening remarks on Thursday, South African Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana emphasised the G20’s pivotal role in reinforcing rules-based cooperation and driving collective action on shared global issues.
