Pahlawan itu pekerjaan yang dilakukan sampah terbusuk saja.
Pada pertengahan abad ke-21, dunia gelap Tokyo berada di dalam kendali para mafia yang telah menjadi “Raja Iblis” melalui operasi penguatan Ether (kekuatan sihir). Para pemburu bayaran yang bertugas menumbangkan para Raja Iblis itulah yang disebut “Pahlawan”! Para Pahlawan menggunakan obat bernama “E3” untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Ether mereka dan melawan para Raja Iblis.
Tindakan membunuh yang mereka lakukan telah dilegalkan, menjadikan profesi Pahlawan pada dasarnya sebagai pekerjaan pembunuh. Di tengah keadaan itu, seorang Pahlawan lepas bernama Yashiro sang “Dewa Kematian” kedatangan orang yang mengaku-ngaku sendiri menjadi muridnya. Dia adalah Jougamine, seorang siswi SMA yang masih menjadi calon Pahlawan. Dengan enggan menerima gadis itu, Yashiro pun terseret ke dalam serangkaian kasus ruwet yang tidak ada habisnya! Kisah aksi supernatural modern berskala besar tentang “guru” sampah dan “murid” yang mengaku-ngaku sendiri pun dimulai!
