Peu importe le débat sur le climat, les compagnies aériennes mobilisent à nouveau tous leurs aéronefs. Même les A380, ces quadriréacteurs géants, connaissent un retour en grâce chez Lufthansa, ce qui constitue un défi énorme pour les mécaniciens et les pilotes.
Quelques jours après la décision de la Lufthansa de réactiver une partie de sa flotte d’A380, une violente tempête de grêle s’est abattue sur ces très gros porteurs stationnés en Espagne, abîmant la carlingue et les vitres des appareils. Malgré ces dégâts, quatre avions devaient reprendre du service en juin 2023. Un projet colossal sur le plan technique comme au niveau de l’organisation. La plupart des pilotes d'A380 avaient été affectés à d’autres types d’appareils ou mis en préretraite. Il est désormais prévu de former 90 pilotes de la Lufthansa sur l'A380. Une fois les premiers travaux de maintenance effectués, les avions prendront la route de Manille, où 4 000 heures de travail seront nécessaires au réaménagement des cabines. Si les passagers sont nombreux à se réjouir de la seconde vie de ce confortable géant des airs, les mécaniciens, les ingénieurs et les pilotes sont confrontés à un défi : faire à nouveau voler en toute sécurité le plus grand avion du monde.
