Wimbledon’s most iconic treat gets an Indian twist, robotic elephants find a place in Hindu temples, and thousands race through the streets of Pamplona. This week on Wings, we travel from New Delhi to Spain, the French Alps, Brussels and Copenhagen.

Strawberries and cream have been part of the Wimbledon experience for generations. But you do not need a Centre Court ticket to try a new take on the famous combination. In New Delhi, a kulfi shop is serving a limited Wimbledon edition that brings together traditional Indian kulfi with strawberries and cream. We visit the shop, taste the special creation and explore what happens when one of India’s favourite frozen desserts meets a famous British sporting tradition. Some Hindu temples in India’s Kerala are turning to life-sized robotic elephants for ceremonies and rituals. The mechanical elephants are drawing curious crowds while also adding to the wider conversation about the use of live animals in religious traditions.

In the French Alps, Les Lindarets has some unusual residents roaming its streets. Known as the Village des Chèvres, the mountain village has become famous for the goats that wander freely among visitors, restaurants and shops. The streets of Pamplona fill with thousands of revellers as the famous San Fermín festival begins. From the opening celebrations and ceremonial fireworks to the first bull run, we experience one of Spain’s best-known and most intense festivals. Armoured knights, charging horses and medieval combat take centre stage in Brussels as jousting returns during a colourful historical festival. Cycling is part of everyday life in Copenhagen, but its busy bike lanes can be intimidating for visitors. A renewed road safety campaign is helping tourists understand local cycling rules, hand signals and etiquette before joining the flow of two-wheeled traffic.
