"Le esprimo, Santità, la riconoscenza più alta per l’insegnamento e l’orizzonte presentati dalla Dilexi te, l’Esortazione Apostolica diffusa nei giorni scorsi, che sollecita alla indispensabile trasformazione di mentalità. Non vogliamo arrenderci alla prospettiva di una società dominata da oligarchi o, meglio, da privilegiati, in base al censo, alla spregiudicatezza, all’indifferenza verso gli altri, che si profila rimuovendo i valori di uguaglianza, di solidarietà, di libertà. Accanto a questi – in contrasto con tante generose iniziative, anche in Italia - vi sono fenomeni sovente mossi dalla paura dello sconosciuto, dall’arroccamento di fronte a processi strutturali di rilevanza globale che stanno modificando le nostre realtà: il cambiamento climatico, le migrazioni, lo stesso uso delle nuove tecnologie".
