(LaPresse) Incontro speciale per Mariano, il dodicenne di Maida, nel Catanzarese, che pesa quasi 200 chili a causa di una malattia sconosciuta. Grazie alla macchina della solidarietà mossasi dopo il racconto de "Le Iene", Mariano ha avuto un'udienza privata da Papa Leone XIV. A raccontare l'esperienza è stata la madre Tamara De Fazio, che sul suo profilo Facebook ha ringraziato coloro che si sono mobilitati per far sì che questo viaggio potesse andare nel migliore dei modi. "Santità, benedica le mie mani perché le sento stanche e provate dalla battaglia. Abbiamo attraversato l'Italia per 12 anni alla ricerca di un nome e di una cura mentre Mariano ci agganciava forte alla fede", ha detto Tamara al Papa. In questi anni, Mariano non ha mai abbandonato la fede: "Da grande – aveva detto durante il Giubileo delle persone con disabilità organizzato dalla diocesi di Lamezia Terme –voglio fare il prete".
