And it's essential: billions of people rely on the ocean for their primary source of food and livelihoods, it's responsible for making around half the oxygen we breathe, and it cools the planet. But it's in deep trouble. Sea surface temperatures are rising, threatening the vast ecosystems that both wildlife and humans depend on.
