CDU/CSU: Frei soll Fraktionsvorsitz der Union von Spahn übernehmen

Der bisherige Kanzleramtschef Thorsten Frei (CDU) soll Nachfolger von Jens Spahn (CDU) an der Spitze der Unionsfraktion im Bundestag werden. Darauf verständigten sich die Chefs von CDU und CSU, Friedrich Merz und Markus Söder, wie die Nachrichtenagentur dpa unter Berufung auf Parteikreise meldet. Offiziell ins Amt kommt der Nachfolger erst durch Wahl in der Fraktion, die dafür am 29. Juli in Berlin zu einer Sondersitzung zusammenkommen soll.

Unklar ist bisher, ob es neben der Nachbesetzung im Kanzleramt zu weiteren Änderungen im Kabinett kommen wird. Nach dem Rücktritt von Spahn hatte Bundeskanzler Merz auch einen personellen Umbau in der Bundesregierung nicht ausgeschlossen.
