Bangladesh's Security Forces Clash With Ousted PM Sheikh Hasina’s Supporters, Four Killed | N18GBangladeshi security forces clashed with supporters of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday, leaving at least four people dead and scores injured. The violence erupted after the student-led National Citizen Party (NCP), which led the uprising against Hasina in August last year, announced a march toward the southwestern Gopalganj district. It is Hasina’s ancestral home and her Awami League party’s stronghold. Supporters of Hasina allegedly attempted to disrupt the rally by the student-led party. They attacked police and vandalised cars. Bangladesh’s interim leader, Muhammad Yunus, slammed the Awami League and pro-Hasina activists, describing it as a “shameful violation of fundamental rights.” Meanwhile, Hasina’s Awami League blamed the interim government for the deaths and injuries. Following the clashes, Bangladesh authorities announced an overnight curfew in the district.
