KOMPAS.TV - Tagar #SaveRajaAmpat saat ini viral di media sosial. Viralnya tagar Selamatkan Raja Ampat dipicu kekhawatiran publik terhadap ancaman aktivitas penambangan nikel di destinasi wisata dunia tersebut.
Warganet ramai-ramai mengunggah tagar #SaveRajaAmpat sebagai bentuk protes.
Beredar pula unggahan dengan narasi "Papua Bukan Tanah Kosong" yang memperlihatkan kondisi hutan yang diterabas hingga tampak area gundul di tengah hamparan hijau.
Warganet pun menyoroti kerusakan lingkungan di Raja Ampat yang terdampak aktivitas pertambangan nikel. Tagar ini pertama kali mencuat lewat unggahan LSM Greenpeace di akun Instagram resminya.
Greenpeace menyebut bahwa hilirisasi nikel yang selama ini dianggap sebagai jalan menuju energi bersih justru meninggalkan jejak kehancuran di berbagai wilayah, dari Sulawesi hingga Maluku dan kini mengancam kawasan Raja Ampat.
