Kasus manipulasi saham yang menjeratnya terkait dealer BMW Deutsch Motors pada 2009–2012.
Ia juga dituding mencampuri pencalonan legislatif 2022 dan 2024, serta menerima hadiah mewah dari Gereja Unifikasi.
Jaksa menilai ada risiko tinggi penghancuran bukti.
Namun pengacaranya berargumen Kim telah kooperatif dan dalam kondisi kesehatan yang buruk.
Selain itu, ia menghadapi dugaan penyalahgunaan kewenangan dalam proyek pembangunan di Yangpyeong yang dekat dengan tanah keluarganya.
Proyek apartemen di wilayah tersebut juga diduga memberi keuntungan khusus bagi keluarganya.
Kim lahir pada 1972 di Provinsi Gyeonggi.
Ia mendirikan perusahaan seni Covana Contents pada 2009 sebelum menikah dengan Yoon pada 2012.
Meski tidak memiliki anak, pasangan ini memelihara banyak hewan.
Kim dikenal sebagai pegiat hak-hak binatang dan pernah berjanji menghapus konsumsi daging anjing di Korsel.
