Drawing Feet with Simple Shapes

Many artists get stuck drawing feet by focusing on bumps, veins, and bones too early. This lesson offers a much simpler approach. You'll learn how to think of the foot as a basic sock or triangle shape, using just a few lines to establish its position and perspective. This is the key to making your figures feel solid and connected to the ground.

Once you have that foundation, you can start adding gesture and life to the foot by pinching and stretching the shape. You'll see how to draw the foot from any angle and how to add just enough anatomical information, like the arches and ankles, to make it believable. This method strips away the complexity, allowing you to build convincing feet for any pose.
