PDI Perjuangan membantah telah melarang kadernya untuk ikut retreat kepala daerah yang digelar Kementrian Dalam Negeri.Juru Bicara PDIP Ahmad Basarah mengatakan, instruksi harian yang dikeluarkan Ketua Umum PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri untuk menunda kader-kadernya mengikuti retreat kepala daerah agar para kepala daerah dari PDIP dapat langsung bekerja untuk masyarakat.
Selain itu, Basarah menjelaskan, penundaan mengikuti retreat karena sampai jelang hari pelaksanaan retreat, PDIP belum mendapatkan informasi lengkap dan detail acara retreat dari pihak Kemendagri.
Menurut Basarah, detail dan informasi lengkap kegiatan retreat dibutuhkan PDIP karena di saat bersamaan Hasto Kristiyanto ditahan KPK.
Basarah menyatakan, penahanan Sekjen PDIP itu adalah masalah serius bagi PDIP yang bukan dinilai bukan hanya peristiwa hukum tetapi juga peristiwa politik. Namun demikian, kini PDIP telah mengizinkan kadernya mengikuti retreat hingga selesai. Bagi kepala daerah dari PDIP yang belum mengikuti retreat gelombang pertama akan ikut pada gelombang kedua.
