States and cities across the country are pushing back against the Trump administration’s effort to withhold millions of dollars in police and anti-terrorism funding unless they adopt new voting rules, as Trump campaigns ahead of the November midterm elections.Harris County, which includes Houston, and the other jurisdictions stand to lose millions in public safety grants unless they impose the controversial voting rules Trump wants: a plan to transition to paper ballots, proof of citizenship verifications, mandatory hand-counted audits of 5% of all ballots, and more, according to Axios.
Trump is also visiting the Houston area on Thursday to meet with the crew of NASA's Artemis II mission and to campaign for Texas GOP Senate hopeful Ken Paxton.
