Outro dia, em uma palestra que eu estava fazendo sobre as vantagens e desvantagens do etanol, alguém fez uma pergunta interessante. “Dizem que o etanol vem da cana de açúcar, mas eu ouvi falar que vem também do milho. É verdade isso?”Sim, é a pura verdade! E aqui no Brasil, nós já temos cerca de 20% do etanol produzido a partir do milho, que é plantado e colhido na entressafra da cana, no mesmo terreno.
Mas existe diferença entre o etanol da cana e o do milho? Para o dono do carro, não. O valor energético é praticamente o mesmo. O que muda é para o produtor, pois uma tonelada do milho produz sete a oito vezes mais etanol que uma tonelada da cana de açúcar.
