Russia has reportedly proposed settling its trade with Bangladesh in Indian rupees as Western sanctions continue to disrupt payments through Russian banks. The proposal, which will be discussed during upcoming bilateral talks, also includes setting up a dedicated payment mechanism and opening a Russian bank branch in Dhaka.The move comes as Bangladesh struggles to repay loans for the Russian-backed Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant after an earlier plan to use the Chinese yuan reportedly failed.
