Al centro dell'inchiesta della Commissione parlamentare d'inchiesta Covid c'è il maxi-appalto da 1 miliardo 251 milioni di euro, affidato nel 2020 dall'allora commissario straordinario Domenico Arcuri, nominato dal governo Conte II, a consorzi cinesi per oltre 800 milioni di mascherine, molte delle quali risultate in seguito non conformi. Le audizioni in Commissione hanno testimoniato l'assenza di controlli preliminari, mentre centinaia di aziende italiane — tra cui la JC Electronics — che offrivano dispositivi idonei a prezzi inferiori sarebbero state ignorate.
Il Tribunale di Roma ha riconosciuto a JC Electronics un risarcimento, quantificato dagli atti giudiziari in oltre 203 milioni di euro. Un procedimento penale collegato si è chiuso nel gennaio 2025 con il proscioglimento di Arcuri dopo una modifica normativa; la Corte dei Conti ha invece riaperto un fascicolo amministrativo.
