“Cierren los vuelos a Cuba”, pide Alex Otaola a las autoridades de EE.UU. ante riesgo sanitario
Mientras el huracán Melissa amenaza con golpear el oriente cubano, el occidente de la isla enfrenta otra tragedia: un virus mortal que ya ha provocado decenas de muertes, según reportes ciudadanos y médicos.En este episodio, Alex Otaola muestra imágenes de hospitales colapsados, como el William Soler en La Habana, donde los pediátricos están saturados, sin medicamentos ni diagnóstico. “No saben qué es el virus, no tienen con qué tratarlo, no tienen nada que ofrecer”, denuncia.
El activista cubanoamericano lanza una alerta a las autoridades sanitarias de Florida y de Estados Unidos, exigiendo que se tomen medidas inmediatas para evitar un contagio transfronterizo. “Canadá y España ya emitieron advertencias sanitarias a sus viajeros para que no vayan a Cuba. ¿Qué espera el Departamento de Salud de la Florida?”, cuestiona Otaola.
Junto al abogado Santiago Alpízar y la organización Cuba Demanda, Otaola pide el cierre temporal de vuelos hacia la isla, ante el riesgo de propagación de enfermedades tropicales detectadas también en Yucatán. “No esperen a mañana. Háganlo ahora”, exige.
El mensaje concluye con un llamado a la acción directa de las autoridades locales: “Esto es Miami, estos son nuestros distritos. Ocúpense de esto. La salud no puede esperar”.
