Si temeva che il divieto imposto dal premier ungherese Viktor Orbán potesse sfociare in repressione. E invece nella capitale dell'Ungheria la manifestazione si è svolta senza troppi problemi. Si parla di una partecipazione di circa 200mila persone, tra cui varie delegazioni dem d'Europa. La manifestazione era stata infatti sotto l'attenzione dell'Unione Europea che - dopo il divieto del Parlamento ungherese volto a tutelare la "protezione dei minori" - ne ha parlato in plenaria a Strasburgo. Presenti a Budapest anche un gruppo del Partito Democratico capitanato da Elly Schlein e Alessandro Zan. Non ha presenziato invece Ilaria Salis. Nella capitale ungherese, sotto la guida di un sindaco dell'opposizione, la polizia ha adottato strumenti di riconoscimento facciale per identificare le persone partecipanti all'evento. Era infatti prevista una multa di circa 500 euro per chi avesse partecipato.
