Would You Climb This? | Gross Furkahorn ESE Ridge (3,169 m) | One of Switzerland's Best Alpine Ridge
Welcome to the ESE Ridge of Gross Furkahorn (3,169 m), one of the most spectacular alpine granite ridge climbs in the Swiss Alps.Together with my climbing partner Maximilian, we started from Furka Pass and reached the ridge after about 1.5 hours through steep boulder fields and remaining snow patches. From there, an endless granite ridge, incredible exposure and breathtaking views made this an unforgettable alpine adventure.
The climbing is technically moderate, but the length of the ridge, the continuous exposure and the complex descent make it a serious mountain day. Finding the correct rappel stations and the final downclimbing section required patience and full concentration.
